Put on your red shoes

I felt that opening night was a mini vocal triumph for us all; Personally I was in good shape, I did all I wanted to do, and the new hall resonated amazingly well.
Afterwards, there was a big gala dinner for the hot- shot money givers, therefore I decided to wear the most expensive article of clothing I own: my designer chiffon- flowing red gown. why not, and where else.
I painted my eyes smoky dark and went almost bare on the lips, (once again: thank you Julio for the lessons!) and fortunately my hair , after being previously pinned inside the wig, finally came out as big flowing waves. I was pretty happy, and at the request of one older gentleman, in the midst of main course and dessert, I stepped up to the dancing floor and granted him a dance. Then another to someone else. then there was pretty much a line of men in their 80's trying to remember their best disco moves from the 70's, while I was shaking my champagne and adrenaline up and down till I stopped noticing the staring eyes of the ones who DIDN'T dance.
Was I too wild? I really didn't go nuts on the dance floor, I Promise. A little cha-cha-cha here, a little spin there. But, should I have chachacha'd at all? An old party- trick of my star friends, is to attend these events politely and quietly; charm a little, and be gone first, un-noticeable, sneaking out with no goodbyes, taking your REAL party somewhere else (where letting your hair down wouldn't be shocking since it wouldn't even be spotted).
This time around, I definitely ignored that suggestion, deciding to seal one prima with a genuine, big smile.

Lost.

I have been driving a lot in Miami. Mostly because one HAS to, in order to get anywhere good. but the real reason it's been so excessive for me, is that I shamefully own an extremely poor sense of direction, and I am bound to get lost on almost every driving expedition, unless it's my usual route (to the beach, to the supermarket, to rehearsal).
So, on my 4 hours off one lovely afternoon, I took my husband hoping for a nice walk in Coconut grove, maybe some ice coffee and a cake, a stroll under the beautiful Miami setting sun.
This turned out to be a slow, most annoying crawl in traffic, getting lost, driving in circles, trying to ask for directions (nobody speaks English), and heading back home. 3 hours in the car, and none of the relaxing time I promised. This keeps happening to me, whether I print Map quest directions (are they EVER right?) ahead of time , or whether I write it down directly from the mouth of trustable locals. Lost.
Other than that, we are almost done with the preparation for the show, which we are opening on Saturday.
A lot has been said by me about Cosi , and this is no different. I am still trying to figure out how to adopt to being an exaggerated, childish personality who keeps singing a third bellow a star-soprano for 4 endless hours, (but then, never ever feeling appreciated enough at the end). This is only the nature of the role, (yes; I am the "violist" in this ensemble... go ahead, crack a joke...). This ain't Carmen. and depending on the direction and on the rest of your cast, it can go a half an inch deeper, or not. That said, I am loving the music (especially the quartet and trio in the first act), it's always great to sing me some mo Mozart,("it's like Buttah!") and my current cast and crew are all a joy, as is Miami itself, even with its crooked roads.

Lashes talk

And on the topic of Makeup:
I notice that my lashes were not feeling too good after the summer where I was wearing mascara every day for rehearsals. I used only the good stuff (Yves saint Laurent, Dior, etc) but I still noticed that my lashes were getting weaker and fewer.
Lately , I went to sephora and got me a couple of products I am testing:
Talika "Lipocils" ( eyelash conditioning gel)
and Supernova "Fresh" mascara
Both are supposed to promote the eyelash growth.
I will report in a few weeks and let you know what's up, or not.
